Seychelles swimming prospect Keira Cristal Berlouis has expressed her admiration for Ghana’s swimming facility, at the Borteyman Sports Complex, leaving behind “wonderful memories” of world-class venue she had a feel of.
As the swimming competition wrapped up at the 13th African Games in Accra on Thursday, 14-year-old Keira had nothing but praise for the quality of Ghana’s pool facility that hosted the events.
She joins a tall tall list of swimmers and officials who gave Ghana a higher score for its facility at the complex.
Speaking to the media after her competition, Berlouis gave a fulsome praise that reflected highly on Ghana’s capability to host large sporting events with distinction.
“I love the pool. If I could, I would stay here just because of the pool. It’s fantastic” Berlouis gushed about the venue.
The teenage swimmer, one of the youngest athletes competing at these Games, was effusive in her appreciation of the prestigious swimming facility provided by the Ghanaian hosts.
She is a product of Aquafins Swimming Club and was adjudged the club’s Best female swimmer for 9-10 years category in 2021.
Being selected three years later to represent her nation at the international stage has been a major boost in chasing her dreams.
Despite not winning a medal, Berlouis still considered her African Games debut a major personal success.
“I was happy with my performance because I was able to break my own personal bests,” she beamed.
“I’ve had an incredible experience that will motivate me to continue chasing my dreams backed by wonderful memories of this facility in Accra.”
Her comments were echoed by Angolan Manager, Kimbungu Kiambata, and Beninois swimmer Nafissath Radji, who all commended the high-quality of the swimming venue in Accra.
It highlighted how vital it was for Ghana to invest in top-notch sporting venues that created the ideal competitive environment.
The impressive pool in Accra clearly achieved that, leaving a lasting positive impression on the visiting athletes.
For a 14-year-old like Keira to commend the facility in such glowing terms really speaks volumes about the quality Ghana was able to provide.
