Officers at the Ongata Rongai police station in kenya are holding a suspect believed to be behind the killing of a 47-year-old man who was murdered Saturday night.
Kennedy Bitonye Oyatsi, a driver, was killed in his house.
According to a report by the DCI director general, Mohamed Amin, they believe his alleged girlfriend, Jacklyn Zakayo, 27, committed the murder following a bitter argument over an unknown issue.
Neighbours said a commotion, followed by screams, was heard from their rented house on Saturday, prompting them to rush to the scene.
“Upon arrival, neighbours noticed patterns of blood splatter which littered the floor of the house and the murder weapon, a broken kitchen knife,” Amin said.
The DCI boss said efforts by well-wishers to rush Oyatsi to nearby Sinai hospital turned futile after he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Crime scene detectives based at the DCI national forensic laboratory documented the scene and recovered the murder weapon for further analysis.
Detectives are currently interviewing more witnesses to unravel the actual events preceding the murder.
Meanwhile, Zakayo remains in custody as the prime suspect.
