Kenya has received 34,400 tonnes of raw fertilizer donated by the government of Russia.
Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, who received the consignment in Mombasa on Wednesday, says the fertilizer will be sold to farmers across the 34 counties, under the fertilizer subsidy programme.
The CS says the government is committed to improving food productivity, by lowering the cost of farm inputs.
Linturi says 2.8 million bags of the subsidized fertilizer, have already been distributed.
A total of 100,200 tonnes of reformulated fertilizer will be produced from the 34,400 tonnes received today.
