Six people have been arrested in Lagos for urinating on a railway track, as part of a crackdown on public indecency.
The arrests took place near the Nigeria Army Shopping Complex in Oshodi, according to Lagos State’s Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
Mr Wahab announced the arrests on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.
The action is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to enforce cleanliness and sanitation under its #ZeroToleranceLagos and #CleanerLagos campaigns.
These initiatives aim to improve public hygiene and environmental standards in Nigeria’s largest city.
Public urination is considered a form of indecency and environmental pollution in many countries, including Nigeria.
The Lagos government has not yet announced what charges or penalties the arrested individuals may face.
