Polling places around the country recorded a massive turnout of voters in what has been characterized as a highly contested Presidential and Parliamentary Elections by international and local observers.
George Weah, the incumbent president of Liberia and head of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is seeking second six-year term in office.

Joseph Boakai, 78, opposition Unity Party (UP), leader is seeking to claim the highest office for the first time as Liberia’s president.
He served as vice president for 12-year term under Liberia’s first female leader Ellen Johnson Sirleaf administration from 2006 to 2018.

Over 40 political parties are contesting the elections and are hoping to receive a piece of the over 2.4 million registered voters who gathered today to exercise their political franchise at 5,890 polling places and 2,080 Voting Precincts across the country.
Local media reports of little or no major incidents. The election is reportedly calm and peaceful so far.
The polls are closed at 18:00 GMT.
