Jennifer Pritzker is the only openly transgender billionaire with a net worth of $2 billion.
Pritzker is a former army lieutenant colonel who came out as a transgender woman in 2013, she is the founder and CEO of the private wealth management firm Tawani Enterprises.
She forms part of a family of billionaires whose fortune largely comes from the founding and expansion of the Hyatt hotel chain.
Her notoriety came in 2019 when she penned an opinion piece in the Washington Post on her experience as a trans person in the army and criticising Donald Trump and the Republican Party on their stance on transgender people in the military. She wrote:
“I have hoped the Republican Party would reform from within and end its assault on the LGBTQ community. Yet, the party continues to champion policies that marginalize me out of existence”
