The body of 20-year-old Moroccan student Sami El Yousfi Alaoui, who had been missing since September 2, was discovered today in the harbor basin of the commercial port in Brest.
According to French news outlets, the discovery was made around 4:00 p.m. Sami El Yousfi Alaoui was last seen after a night out at the La Suite nightclub in Brest.
Franceinfo says the news of Alaoui’s discovery was confirmed by the Brest prosecutor, Camille Miansoni.
“We do not yet know the circumstances or the causes of his death,” stated Prosecutor Miansoni. He further mentioned that an autopsy will be conducted in the near future to shed light on the tragic incident.
Sami El Yousfi Alaoui’s disappearance sparked concern and an extensive search operation, which ultimately led to the heartbreaking discovery of his body.
The body was found at a location less than 100 meters from the La Suite nightclub where Sami had spent part of the night of Saturday, September 2, with his friends.
Reports further add that Alaoui’s passport was found in his pocket. His phone was also found abandoned in the street near the nightclub where he was staying.
The young student was due to start his 4th year at Enib, under an agreement between the school and Rabat’s Universite Mohammed V (UM5).
