The Moroccan national Muay Thai team is set to make its mark on the global stage as they prepare to compete in the upcoming World Youth Championship and U-23 World Cup. Organized by the International Muay Thai Federation, this prestigious event will take place in Kemer, Turkey, from October 1 to 7, 2023.
Morocco’s national elite will be well represented at the competition, with a roster of talented fighters ready to showcase their skills in the World Youth Championship, featuring the under-15 and under-17 categories. The announcement came via an official statement by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Kickboxing Sports (FRMF), Muay Thai, Saffat, and similar sports.
In the under-15 category, Morocco will field two promising fighters: Ibrahim Edubeihi in the -42 kg category and Imran Fahmy in the -63.5 kg category. These young athletes have shown immense dedication and promise on their journey to the world stage.
The under-17 category will see a strong Moroccan contingent, including Muhtadi Daoudi in the -54 kg category, Yahya Al-Marssi in the -57 kg category, Rayan Habibi in the -67 kg category, Walid Squari in the -71 kg category, Wesal Barboushi in the -57 kg category, and Jawaher Burhan in the -60 kg category. These athletes have trained tirelessly to represent their country with honor and pride.
For the Moroccan national elite under 23 years of age, who will compete in the Muay Thai World Cup, the lineup includes: Ayoub Atoudan in the weight class of less than 48 kg, Amine Shteiwi in the weight class of less than 51 kg, Yahya Sobhi in the weight class of less than 57 kg, Mohamed Yassine Mahsoun in the weight class of less than 67 kg, Amine Bougdaini in the weight class of less than 71 kg, Ali Ayoubi in the weight class of more than 91 kg, Nora Aitsi in the weight class of less than 45 kg, and Kalthoum Akhlouf in the weight class of less than 48 kg.
The technical supervision of the Moroccan national elite will be provided by national coaches Lahcen Wasso, Mustapha Kotbi, and Othman Wahabi. The Moroccan delegation will also be accompanied by international referee Mustapha Ghannam, Rachida Laghrissi as the head of the delegation, and a dedicated medical staff led by Brahim Ait Bennasser.
