The Lagos Police Command has confirmed the release of six out of the eight domestic staff of Nigerian Afro-beat artist, Davido, who were picked up on Tuesday morning over the death of the singer’s son, Ifeanyi.
The two- a nanny and a chef have been detained for continuous investigations over the death of the three-year old.
Sources say, the cook and nanny, whose job was to cater to the wellbeing of the toddler, had been detained for different reasons, including the failure to care for the minor.
Ifeanyi, who clocked three on October 20 with a lavish party thrown to celebrate him, was reported to have drowned in the pool within Davido’s residence in the Banana Island highbrow of Lagos on Monday night.
It was also said that Davido and Chioma had left for Ibadan for a family function, leaving Ifeanyi with his nanny and other domestic workers.
After Ifeanyi passed away, the police questioned eight home workers, including his nanny and chef.
According to the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, six of the ace singer’s workers have been released.
Hundeyin added that two of the workers assisting with the probe.
“Nobody was arrested. Of the people that were brought in for questioning, six were allowed to go while two are still with us, assisting with the investigation. There’s no update other than that investigation is still ongoing,” he said.
