The district head of the Bokkos Local Government Area of the Plateau State has had had his town, Michael Adanchi, has had his house burnt by some women from the communities who were protesting the recent Boko Haram attacks, the punch has reported.
The women, who were outraged by the brutal killings that occurred in 17 villages in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos Local Government Areas of the state on Christmas Eve, accused Adanchi of failing to protect their communities from the terrorists.
According to reports, over 100 persons were killed in the attacks, which also displaced over 10,000 people. Many of these displaced persons are currently taking refuge in churches, mosques, schools, and private residences.
The attack on Adanchi’s house occurred around 12.30pm on Friday, according to a report by the Daily Trust.
The women reportedly stormed the district head’s residence, chanting and demanding answers for the recent attacks. They accused Adanchi of being complicit in the killings and demanded that he step down from his position.
The source was also quoted as saying that the women burnt down the house following the arrest of some members of the community for their alleged involvement in the recent killings in the area, adding that the traditional ruler’s residence and his administrative office were burnt down.
“The incident began at the police station where they expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community. After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the source said.
