Nigeria’s former presidential candidate Peter Obi made a visit to Kaduna state on Tuesday to commiserate with grieving families in the Tudun Biri village.
An accidental drone bombing carried out by the Nigerian Army in Igabi Local Government area resulted in more than hundred civilian casualties earlier this month.
Mr. Obi traveled to personally pay his respects to survivors and relatives of those lost in the unfortunate incident. His visit underscored sympathy across Nigeria after news emerged that a wayward army drone strike intended for bandits hit the wrong target.
He visited survivors recovering at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and spent time offering condolences to grieving families in the Igabi Local Government area.
In a statement posted to his official page, Obi said “Today, I visited Kaduna state to commiserate with the grieving good people of the state on the unfortunate accidental bombing by the Nigeria Army at Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government of the State.”
In spending time in Kaduna consoling distraught community members, Peter Obi exhibited the compassion and leadership many admired during his groundbreaking presidential run just months ago.
