Twelve persons, comprising of 10 females and two males have been killed in a road accident in Nigeria’s Ebonyi State.
The accident involving a commercial bus occurred on Tuesday April 11, 2023 along the Abakaliki-Enugu expressway.
Eyewitnesses had earlier feared that all those who travelled in that vehicle may have lost their lives but the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) stated that 14 people were involved in the accident.
Local television station, Channels TV gathered that the accident occurred as the bus was said to have had a head-on collision with a trailer from the opposite direction around the Ishielu and Nkalagu axis of Ebonyi State.
FRSC Commander in the state, Esther Uchegbu who confirmed the unfortunate incident, said her men are still on the ground to ascertain any survivors.
According to Uchegbu, her officers and men on the ground confirmed that the dead victims were 12 persons – 10 females and two male passengers.
She added that two persons who survived were receiving treatment at a yet-to-be-disclosed hospital.
