Rwanda has appointed Ernest Rwamucyo as its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, replacing Claver Gatete, who was recently appointed as the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
It comes as part of several appointments made by the government across various institutions during the Cabinet meeting held on October 20.
With this appointment, Rwamucyo will assume the position of Proposed Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations, serving as a prominent representative of the country on the global stage.
The various appointments were signed by Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente in accordance with cabinet resolutions.
Rwamucyo, known for his astute diplomatic skills and extensive experience, is widely regarded as an ideal candidate for this crucial role. His appointment comes at a time when Rwanda aims to strengthen its presence and influence within the United Nations and contribute to international peace, security, and development efforts.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role, and his track record of fostering positive relations and navigating complex international issues has earned him deserved recognition within the diplomatic community.
Rwanda’s decision to entrust Rwamucyo with this critical position underscores the country’s confidence in his abilities to effectively advocate for its priorities on the world stage. As the Proposed Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations, Rwamucyo is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping policies, engaging in diplomatic negotiations, and championing Rwanda’s national interests.
