South Africa “uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party” has announced a picnic in the Pongola Sub-region as part of its campaign efforts ahead of South Africa’s national elections on May 29th.
This push comes amid the reported disqualification of the party’s leader, former President Jacob Zuma, from running in the upcoming polls.
It has however remained focused, carrying its campaign across the country to ensure its electoral fortune in the May contest.
In a post on the social media platform X, the MK Party stated: “We’re ready for tomorrow’s MK PICNIC, Pongola Sub-region Siyaqhuba,” signaling the group remains focused on campaigning across the country to ensure its electoral fortunes next month.
South Africa’s Election Commission Thursday (March 28) barred former President Jacob Zuma from contesting in the country’s upcoming polls in May.
While his inability to contest the elections himself due to disqualification is likely a setback, the MK Party appears undeterred in its efforts to garner support.
Claims have emerged from a purported think tank study that the MK Party could severely dent ANC support in Zuma’s homebase of KwaZulu-Natal province.
