The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Friday afternoon, met with deaf model, Josephine Kiden who has fully recovered from gun-shot wound which she sustained in August this year, a statement issued from the presidency said.
“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit this afternoon met with Josephine Kiden, Miss Deaf South Sudan and Miss Deaf Africa 2021 who came to express her deepest gratitude to the President for the support rendered to her when she was shot and injured by unknown gunman in Juba,” the statement said.
Kiden was shot and wounded when walking on public space at Konyokonyo market in August. She was then flown to Nairobi for treatment on orders of the president and returned to the country last month after recovering.
According to the statement, Kiden “briefed President Kiir on her trip to Tanzania to participate in Miss Deaf International Beauty Pageant 2022, an event that will be held in Tanzania from 23rd- 30th October this year.”
She further “thanked the President for his kindness, care and support during the time she sustained injuries and was rushed to Nairobi, Kenya for medical attention,” and further added that her participation in the Pageant contest will be an opportunity for her to represent the Country abroad and hope that she will bring the crown home.
