The North-West Ugandan Police are investigating the death of twelve people who are reported to have consumed a locally manufactured gin.
It is reported that the deaths were recorded on Saturday and Sunday in the Madi-Okollo district.
Several others, including one trader who was selling the gin known as City 5 Pineapple Flavoured Gin, have been hospitalised with suspected poisoning.
The ingredients of the drink is not known yet but some that are listed on the bottle include pineapple flavour, demineralised water and extra neutral alcohol.
A regional police spokesperson said that samples of the gin have been collected and will be submitted to the government chemist to conduct tests.
Local media report that four suspects are arrested whiles the local factory is also closed down for investigation.
