Tanzania’s national population reached 61,741,120 in 2022, a 27.23 percent increase from 2012, a preliminary census results shows.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced the results on Monday in Dodoma, detailing that the number of people in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar reached 59.8million and 1.88million respectively.
The number of women represents 51percent of the total population. According to a new report, Dar es Salaam population continue to be the highly populated region with 5.3million people followed by Mwanza with 3.69million.
This is the sixth population results. The 2012 census results indicated Tanzania had a population of 44,928,923 people.
