Roberto Calenda, the agent of Victor Osimhen, has threatened legal action against Napoli for making fun of the striker on social media.
Napoli posted a video of their striker missing a penalty against Bologna on their TikTok account, with the words “gimme penalty please” dubbed over the top.
Since then, the post has been removed.
“We reserve the right to take legal action and any useful initiative to protect Victor,” Calenda wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted. A serious fact that causes very serious damage to the player and adds to the treatment that the boy is suffering in the last period between media trials and fake news.”
When Osimhen was substituted in the 86th minute of Sunday’s goalless draw against Bologna, it was apparent that he was asking manager Rudi Garcia a question.
Osimhen, a Nigerian international, helped Napoli win the Serie A championship for the first time in 33 years after scoring 26 goals in 32 league appearances the previous season. He joined the club for a club-record 81.3 million euros in the summer of 2020.
The 24-year-old, who was frequently mentioned in connection with Chelsea and Manchester United this summer, has three goals to his credit in six games thus far.
