Zambian president has ended his six-day visit to China and has returns home with many goodies for the country in energy, green housing, digital transformation, smartphone assembly and Tech & cultural exchanges.

President Xi Jinping warmly received his Zambian counterpart at Great Hall Of The People in Beijing where they had bilateral discussions on multiple issues of mutual interest to Zambia and China.

In his state visit, president Hakainde Hichilema, toured four Chinese provinces.
He paid tribute to former Chinese President, H.E Deng Xiaoping, by laying wreaths at his statue in Shenzhen, southern China.

The Zambian leader met the Chinese Rail Corporation (CRCC) where they retraced the genesis of engineering marvel. “We aim to strengthen this technical relationship & urged CRCC to partner with us to enhance integrity of the TAZARA to align with current high level of regional trade & investment,” said president Halainde Hichilema.

Zambia and leading global ICT solutions provider ZTE signed MoU to set up a smartphone assembly plant in Zambia.
This, the president said will “be a game changer that brings many jobs, as we increase digital solutions to citizens through our E-govt Division”.

Mr. Hichilema also visited internet services giant, Tencent Holdings Ltd. and “encouraged them to consider opportunities in Zambia for digital platforms” to help push to transform the country into a modern economy through tech advancement.


As Zambia recognises the urgent need to rapidly develop the country’s digital platforms as part of their smart economic transformation agenda, “we signed an MoU with Huawei” which will see fully digitised to benefit our Zambians, especially our rural communities.
