Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has been appointed as the second vice-president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The announcement was made by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe during a press conference in Accra on Saturday, during the CAF African Schools Football Championship Ghana 2025.
Mr. Okraku, who was elected unopposed to the CAF Executive Committee in March, now takes a more senior role in the continent’s football hierarchy, replacing Ahmed Yahya in the position.
The appointment comes as part of a broader leadership restructuring, with five new vice presidents named to form CAF’s senior leadership team.
Morocco’s Fouzi Lekjaa was appointed as first vice-president, with Gabon’s Pierre-Alain Mounguengui taking the third vice-president position.
DR Congo’s Bestine Kazadi Ditabala makes history as the fourth vice-president, becoming one of the most senior female leaders in African football administration, while Mozambique’s Feizal Sidat completes the team as fifth vice-president.
Dr Motsepe also announced that Yacine Idriss Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), has been co-opted onto the CAF Executive Committee.
The CAF Executive Committee additionally approved appointments to fill vacant positions across several CAF committees.
“This new leadership structure ensures representation across all African regions as part of our vision for more inclusive governance,” Dr Motsepe said.
The announcements came during a busy weekend of CAF activities in Accra, highlighting Ghana’s growing influence in African football administration.
The newly-elected CAF Vice Presidents are:
- CAF First Vice President: Mr Fouzi Lekjaa (Morocco)
- CAF Second Vice President: Mr Kurt Okraku (Ghana)
- CAF Third Vice President: Mr Pierre-Alain Mounguengui (Gabon)
- CAF Fourth Vice President: Ms Bestine Kazadi Ditabala (Democratic Republic of Congo)
- CAF Fifth Vice President: Mr Feizal Sidat (Mozambique)
Additionally, Dr Motsepe announced that Mr Yacine Idriss Diallo, President of Fédération Ivoirienne de football (“FIF”), has been co-opted onto the CAF Executive Committee.
The CAF Executive Committee also approved the names to fill vacant positions on sseveral CAF Committees.
