Egyptian Premier League referee Amin Omar has been selected to officiate the AFCON semi-final encounter between South Africa and Nigeria.
South Africa managed to overcome 2022 World Cup surprise package Morocco in their first test in the knockout stages.
They later prevailed in an intense penalty shootout against Cape Verde where Ronwen Williams’ heroics guided his side to the last four.
On the other hand, Nigeria’s path to the semi-finals saw the Eagles convincingly overcome 2017 AFCON winners Cameroon and Angola respectively.
Ahead of South Africa’s clash with Nigeria, CAF revealed that Amin Omar will take charge of the highly-anticipated encounter.
Omar had officiated the opening game of the tournament, where hosts Ivory Coast beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0, as well as DR Congo’s goalless draw with Tanzania.
