Accra Lions announce first direct transfer from Ghana to Spanish giants

Ghanaian club Accra Lions have announced the immediate transfer of their 18-year-old left-back David Oduro to Spanish giants FC Barcelona.


Oduro is one of two Ghanaian youngsters signed by the Catalan club, with the other being Issah from Dreams FC.

They duo are the first two players to be signed directly from Ghana by the Spanish giants.

In a statement, Accra Lions said: “We are pleased to announce the immediate transfer of our left-back David Oduro to @FCBarcelona. The 18-year-old is the first player ever to complete a direct transfer from Ghana to FC Barcelona. Good luck and much success, David!”

The move marks a historic moment, with Oduro being the first player to complete a direct transfer from the West African nation to the Blaugrana.

Accra Lions, who operate in the Ghana Premier League, will be hoping the successful transfer of their young talent to one of the world’s biggest clubs will open the door for more Ghanaian players to follow in Oduro’s footsteps.
