The head coach of the Ghana national football team, Chris Hughton, is set to announce his final squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament on Monday morning.
It comes ahead of their camping in Kumasi ahead of the tournamrnt scheduled to kick off on January 13th in Cote d’Ivoire.
According to a statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Hughton will reveal the final team of 23 players to represent Ghana at the 2024 AFCON during a press conference in Accra on Monday.
The press engagement which will be streamed on all official pages of the Ghana Football Association, Facebook, YouTube and the Ghana Football App, aims to give Chris Hughton opportunity to engage the sports media ahead of the tournament scheduled for Cote D’Ivoire.
The former Brighton manager took over the Black Stars in February 2022, guiding them through the World Cup playoffs. Hughton is now focused on building a competitive squad to challenge for Ghana’s 5th AFCON trophy.
With established players like Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus expected to lead the team, many anticipate new faces being included in Ghana’s AFCON roster.
Hughton and his assistants will be hoping to make the right selections to launch a successful campaign when Ghana opens their Group B matches against Egypt on January 14th.
Ghana will play Namibia in an international friendly at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, January 8, 2024 as part of the build up to the tournament.
