New Black Stars Head Coach Chris Hughton has lauded the Kumasi crowd ahead of Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against Angola, saying he expects his team has the “responsibility” to respond positively to massive support they have received.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference the former Brighton manager stated he is aware what fans in can give to the team.
“I know the difference Kumasi can make, it is passionate and vocal here, and any team that wants to do well needs vocal fans,” he said.
“The team has a responsibility to return this, so the supporters must enjoy it, we cannot guarantee any result, but we can guarantee the team will give everything to get a result”
When asked about selection issues, Houghton said that remains a secrete between him and his Technical staff.
“During this evening and tomorrow, I will name my team but as we speak only me and my close technical staff know the team,” he said.
The Black Stars are playing host to the Palancas Negras of Angola in what marks Hughton’s first match as Black Stars coach.
It also marks the Black Stars first assignment after their failed mission in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
