Nigeria clinched the 2024 U-20 WAFU B Cup of Nations title with a 2-1 victory over Ghana in a tightly contested final on Wednesday.
Kparobo Arierhi proved to be the match-winner, scoring twice in the first half to give the Flying Eagles a commanding lead.
His first came in the 33rd minute with a brilliant finish, followed by a second strike 10 minutes later when he found the top corner after a scramble in the penalty area.
Ghana, managed by Desmond Ofei, showed more attacking intent after the break. Jerry Afriyie gave the Black Satellites hope with his fifth goal of the tournament in the 75th minute, heading home to set up a tense finish.
Despite increased pressure from Ghana, with Hayford Adu Boahen creating several chances, Nigeria held firm to lift the trophy.
Both finalists have qualified for next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
