The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Adewale Osifes, has come forward to deny reports of any casualties following the alleged invasion by gunmen at the Old Oyo National Park.
Contrary to initial reports indicating one fatality and multiple injuries, the police spokesperson emphasises that no life was lost. while admitting the shooting incident occurred within the park’s premises.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that some local vigilante groups around the location, while in pursuit of alleged abductors, engaged them in a gun duel, resulting in three of their members (vigilantes) sustaining injuries.
“Consequent on the above, it is important to note that no life was lost; the injured are presently responding to the medical intervention availed to them at the hospital,” the statement affirmed.

The police spokesperson also urges anyone with relevant information regarding the alleged incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigations. The cooperation of the community is seen as vital in establishing the truth and ensuring the credibility of the law enforcement agencies.
