Egypt’s U23 coach Roger Micale believes his team can win an Olympic medal as they prepare to face hosts France in the semi-finals.
The Pharaohs reached the last four after beating Paraguay on penalties, and victory against France would guarantee at least bronze – Egypt’s first Olympic football medal.
“The dream of an Olympic medal is possible and we will do everything to make it true,” Micale told the Egyptian Football Association website.
Egypt topped their group with wins over Uzbekistan and Spain after an opening draw with the Dominican Republic.
Micale said his team would “continue to fight for the good of our country”, adding: “Our aim is to bring joy to the Egyptian people.”
The semi-final takes place on Monday, with Egypt aiming to upset the hosts and secure their place in the final.
