Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has issued a unifying message calling on all citizens to embody the virtues of love, sacrifice and reconciliation for the betterment of the nation as Christians celebrated Easter Sunday.
In her national Easter address, the President paid tribute to the Christian beliefs surrounding Jesus’ “great love of self-sacrifice for others.” However, she urged Tanzanians of all faiths to draw inspiration from this spirit of selfless love.
“Love for our creator pushes us to live in a good way. Love for our brothers, relatives and neighbors pushes us to continue praying for peace, unity and solidarity for our nation,” President Hassan stated.
She emphasized that even love for those with differing views can “drive us to seek and live in reconciliation and tolerance.”
Touching on Tanzania’s rich diversity, the President appealed for mutual understanding and unity.
“Love for our country pushes us to serve it professionally and always intend to step forward by rebuilding,” she said, calling on citizens to work together towards national progress.
