A fun outing turned tragic when a Lagos prophet drowned during a Valentine’s Day beach trip with his church youth group, the punch has reported.
Oriyomi Remilekun, prophet of a Lagos white garment church, went missing Saturday evening after spending the day with 16 youth members at Avista Beach in the Ajah area.
The church group’s beach picnic lasted into the evening. When it ended and people were leaving, Oriyomi’s whereabouts became unknown.
His colleagues began searching for the prophet immediately, but their efforts to find him that night were unsuccessful.
They returned Sunday morning to continue looking before reporting him missing to police.
Tragically, Remilekun’s body washed ashore Monday at a nearby beach. The circumstances remain unclear.
“The youths of the church parish at Gbagada were on a planned Valentine’s Day love feast at the Avista Beach Resort and they were 16 in number,” a source said as reported by the punch.
“They first lodged at a shortlet apartment very close to the resort where they had a party before later moving into the beach resort.
“Around 9pm, they prepared to leave and when they got to the car park, they discovered that Oriyomi was missing.
“When they asked his girlfriend, she said he gave her his phone, went in and promised to come back. They later went to the beach, searched for him and could not find him before they left.”
Friends and church members have mourned Remilekun’s untimely passing on social media, praising the gifted prophet for his humble spirit and service to the church. Police say they were unaware of the drowning incident.
The beach outing was meant to be a fun celebration, but ended in sorrow for Remilekun’s loved ones.
