The Police Command in Nigeria’s Delta State has arrested over 100 suspected gay men who were reportedly holding a wedding ceremony in a hotel in the state.
The Police in a post on social media platform X (formally twitter) on Tuesday morning August 29, 2023, said the suspects would be paraded shortly.
Local media reports indicate that the suspects are currently detained at the police headquarters in Asaba, the state capital.
The police said they received a tip-off about the wedding ceremony and raided the hotel.
Homosexual relationships are illegal in Nigeria and punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
